About the Author

Thanks for visiting my weblog! I am excited to know that you have taken time out of your busy schedule to read a few blogs and add your comments, suggestions, and/or questions. This weblog is primarily for educators, parents, and anyone between that have a strong interest in K-12 public education. I hope that your trip is worthwhile and that you will come back to visit very soon. Oh, before I forget, let me formally and virtually introduce myself…

I am currently pursuing a doctorate degree in Educational Administration with emphases in Research/Statistics and Instructional Technology. Prior to pursuing my PhD as a full-time student and a graduate assistant beginning in spring 2007, I taught seventh grade science for three and a half years in South Carolina. Upon leaving the classroom, I worked in a school district’s Office of Research and Development. In this capacity, I served as an educational researcher, grant writer, program evaluator, and a federal grant director. After spending exactly one year working in educational research, I decided it would be in my best interest to complete my doctorate degree without any further delay beginning in 2007.

Regarding my educational background, I received my bachelor’s of science degree with a minor in psychology from The University of South Carolina; a Master’s of Arts degree and Master’s of Business Administration from Webster University; and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration from The University of Southern Mississippi. I will defend my dissertation in June of 2008 and graduate this summer!

My short-term goals upon graduation are to return to K-12 education as a building level administrator. I would also like to serve as an adjunct professor of online courses in educational administration, statistics, and IT, where I can utilize the skills and knowledge acquired from my IT minor. Additionally, I will continue to pursue my research interests regarding the academic achievement and discipline gaps; and how African American students’ perceptions of their teachers impact learning and achievement.
